Our Story
When passion blends with history and design, magical things happen. A revitalized landmark, Hotel Vandivort was built to energize downtown Springfield. Bringing an upscale boutique hotel experience to Missouri.
Masonic Origins
The historic structure was built in 1906 as a Masonic Temple. This four-story building offered more than 40,000 square feet of space, including a grand auditorium on the fourth floor. For over 75 years, it served as a gathering place for Springfield’s Masonic community.
A New Chapter
In the 1980s, the building underwent a significant renovation, with much of the interior converted into office space. During this time, elements such as drop ceilings and drywall updated the space for its new use, while many of the building’s original architectural features remained preserved beneath. The property was also added to both the Springfield Historic Sites Register and the National Register of Historic Places. In later years, the fourth floor became home to the Springfield Contemporary Theatre and hosted a variety of events.
Hotel Vandivort Opens
As downtown Springfield’s arts, dining, nightlife, and business scenes flourished, a need emerged for a truly distinctive place to stay. Recognizing this opportunity, the McQueary brothers purchased the Vandivort building, drawn to its rich history and prime location. They carefully restored its original beauty while reimagining the space as a vibrant, social hospitality destination. Hotel Vandivort was born.
The V2 Expansion
As Hotel Vandivort continued to grow in popularity, the vision expanded alongside it. In 2019, the McQueary brothers introduced V2, a thoughtfully designed addition located just behind the original building. This expansion nearly doubled the number of guest rooms while seamlessly complementing the character of the historic property. V2 also introduced Vantage Rooftop Bar, offering elevated views and a vibrant gathering space for guests and locals alike.
Compass Meeting Hall
As Hotel Vandivort has grown into a premier destination for both business and social gatherings, so has its collection of event spaces. In late 2024, Compass Meeting Hall was introduced—a 1,500 sq ft venue designed to bring people together in a setting that feels both refined and welcoming. Thoughtfully positioned to complement the Vandivort Ballroom, Cornerstone Room, and V2 Conference Room, Compass offers added flexibility for everything from corporate meetings to celebrations and special events.
